Team City: The city of your team is listed in the title of the front office vitals screen. At any point in time you may choose to move your team to a new city. This move, however, may impact your raw fame score. If you are a subscribed user, there is about a 40% chance that your team will lose approximately 15% of its fame when you relocate your team (there is a 60% chance you will not lose ANY fame). If you are a non-subscriber, you will lose 30-40% of your fame by relocating your team.
Team Nickname: The nickname of your team is listed in the title of the front office vitals screen. You may elect to change the nickname of your team. This change (if made) could effect your fame. If you are a subscribed user, there is about a 40% chance that your team will lose approximately 10% of its fame when you relocate your team (there is a 60% chance you will not lose ANY fame). If you are a non-subscriber, you will lose 30-40% of your fame by relocating your team.
Owner: Your name (or the one that you signed up for the game with) is displayed on the front office vitals page. This field is not editable within the game. If you need to change your name, please contact support.
Username: Like the owner name, the username is also chosen at signup and displayed at the top of the front office vitals screen. It is also not editable. The username is a unique identifier that you select to refer to this account. You may not change your username.
Email Address: Similar to the owner and usernames, the email address is also specified at signup. Unlike these two fields, however, the email address may be changed. Franchise Baseball sends out important information via email and it is important to always have a valid email address listed. Please make sure that your email provider does not filter Simgalaxy.com email into the trash or bulk mail folders. Several providers including hotmail and MSN have been found to do so, and have therefore had to be eliminated as valid hosts to signup for simgalaxy teams. To change your email address, select the "Change Email" button to go to the change email page, enter the new email address, following any instructions, and click on the "Change" button. The new address should immediately be reflected. Simgalaxy does not sell, publish or otherwise divulge your email address. The email address is only used for Simgalaxy's purposes of communicating game and site related information to you.
Emailing Daily League Information: As a special benefit for subscribed users, they may choose to turn on the emailing of various league information. The league information is delivered to a users email address once per day. A subscribed owner can toggle this delivery on and off in the front office.
Emailing Important Events: In addition to requesting daily information emails a subscribed user can also setup their account to send notification emails when they receive such things as trade offers or private message board postings. Owners may toggle this feature on and off in the front office. Please note that here, message board refers to the internal Franchise Baseball message board, not the external (site wide) message board. You will have to setup your account on the external board to notify you of new private messages. This toggle only refers to the in game message board.
Password: To prevent signups using fraudulent and invalid email addresses we have to send a system generated password to your email address at signup. This password is often cryptic and difficult to remember (often forcing a copy paste directly from the email into the password field (Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste in most major operating systems)). You may change your password at any time. To do so, there is a link on the Franchise Baseball login page titled, "Change Password". It will prompt you for your username, current password and two instances of your new password. After that, however, your password will be changed. This must be performed while you are logged out for security reasons. Likewise, your password is not displayed on the front office vitals screen for the same security concerns.
Wins: This display's the current number of wins your team has.
Losses: This display's the current number of losses your team has.]
Pct: This is your winning percentage. In other words, what percentage of the time you have won games. It is in the form of a decimal and is a standard sports standings item.
Runs For: This field shows how many runs your team has scored in all games combined. The difference between runs for and runs against is used as a tie breaker when determining playoff seeding and eligibility if your team has the same wins and losses as another team. Unfortunately, like opponents and head to head matchups cannot be used in determining playoff seeding due to resource restrictions.
Runs Against: This field shows how many runs your team has allowed in all games combined. The difference between runs for and runs against is used as the 1st tie breaker when determining playoff seeding and eligibility if your team has the same wins and losses as another team.
Home Record: This shows a team's record at home this season.
Away Record: This shows a team's record on the road this season.
Career Record: This item shows your career record as the owner of this franchise. When you take over the team, this record is zeroed out.
Playoff Record: This field shows your career record in the playoffs. The record is zeroed out when you take over a team.
Minor League Operating Budget: Each team can set their minor league operating budget from the front office as well. The minor league operating budget is a sum of money that is taken out of revenue once per day (not per game). It is the money that is used to finance your minor league system, players, staff and management. Setting and maintaining a budget helps to improve the skills of the players you have designated to the minor leagues. Those players (minor leaguers) have a chance each day to improve in any or all skills. The more money you spend on the operating budget, the better the chances are that a player will improve. If, however, you fail to meet the budget on a given day, the player either won't improve at all (if you miss by less than half of the budget - i.e.. You have a $100,000 budget and pay somewhere between 50K and 100K that day) or the player will actually have a chance to decrease in skill (if you miss your budget by less than half - i.e.. You have a $100,000 budget and have less than 50K to spend). Setting your budget to $0 won't improve your players, but, also won't hurt them, either. The minors at this point just becomes a place to store players.
Stadium Name: The stadium name is a name that you give your stadium. An initial name is given to the stadium when you signup for a team, but, you may change it at any time by clicking on "Stadium Name". When you enter the Change Stadium Name screen, simply type a new name and click on "Change". Unlike moving cities and/or changing a nickname, changing your stadium name has no effect on your team's fame. Please note that the game automatically inserts the type of stadium you have, so, it is not necessary to include the "Stadium" or "Park" after your name, the game will do that for you. In fact, including it could display oddly in places.
Stadium Type: This shows the current stadium type that your team is playing in. The stadium type also determines the maximum capacity of your stadium. It is strongly suggested that you upgrade stadiums when you feel that you have out grown the capacity of your current venue. To purchase a new stadium (or just look at what is available) click on the "Stadium" button. This takes you to the "Upgrade Stadium" screen. There is a drop down list with all the stadiums available to you, their price and approximate capacity. Subscribers may upgrade all the way to the 90,000 seat Super Dome. To buy a new stadium, select it from the drop down list and click on "Buy". If you have enough cash your stadium and capacity will be upgraded. Please note that you cannot downgrade your stadium.
Stadium Capacity: This is the maximum number of people that your stadium can hold. Any people in excess of this who wish to come to the game will be turned away. You can increase capacity by buying a new stadium.
Stadium (Field) Dimensions: In baseball subscribed owners may change the dimensions of their stadium between seasons (that is any time after your team's record becomes 0-0 and the time the first game is played). By default, all teams start with a stadium that measures 345 down the left and right field lines, 370 to both the left and the right field gaps, and 390 to strait away center field. Those dimensions are considered "average" for home runs, doubles and triples. By making the fence shorter home runs will increase slightly while doubles and triples will decrease slightly (since there is less playing field for outfielders to cover). If you make the dimensions larger home runs will go down but doubles and triples will go up. So, as you can see, tailoring your stadium to your team can help you in the long run.
You can view the dimensions of another team's stadium on the scouting screen. There is a link titled "View" right after the stadium name. Click on that to view the field dimensions.
To change your own stadium dimensions, there is a button in the Office labeled, "Field Size". For most of the season, the button will be inactive, however, between seasons as mentioned above the button will be active and you may change your field size (if you are subscribed at that time). The cost of changing your field size depends on how many of the 5 dimensions you decide to change. The system will only charge you for those that are changed. The screen displayed will tell you the exact price per dimension.
When a team upgrades their stadium, the dimensions will remain the same. They will not revert to the default size.
Last Attendance: This is the attendance for your last home game. By analyzing the attendance and trends in attendance you can gauge if you are charging too much for tickets, perhaps need some promotions or maybe even a new stadium.
Cash: This is the money that you currently have in your pocket. In many circumstances, only cash may be spent on items. There are some places like training where money may be taken out of either the bank or cash.
Bank: This is the money that you currently have stored in your bank account. Only money stored in the bank will earn interest each night. Money in the bank is also protected from accidental spending on several large ticket items including stadiums, concession contracts and merchandise contracts. To put cash in the bank or withdraw cash from the bank, click on "Bank". Here you may follow the on-screen instructions to deposit or withdraw money, or there are useful buttons for "Withdraw All" and "Deposit All" options.
Ticket Price: This is how much you are currently charging fans to come to your games. Ticket Price may be adjusted by clicking on the "Tickets" button and entering a new price followed by clicking on "Change" on the "Change Ticket Prices" screen. Ticket prices both positively and negatively effect attendance. If your prices are too high, fans will stay away, if they are too low, you will fill your stadium and lose vital revenue that you could have made from ticket sales. You may change ticket prices each game.
Team Logo: The Franchise Baseball game allows users to enter a link to their very own team logo (which will be displayed when others scout their team). To select team colors, click on "Change Colors", you will be presented with a screen to select the primary, secondary and highlight colors for your team. Using the radio buttons before the colors make your selections. You can also choose from various color schemes for your home and away jerseys at the bottom of the color chart. When you are done, you can click on "Change". The combination of team jerseys and team colors on the scouting screen uses advanced HTML commands that may not be available in all browsers. Internet Explorer 6.0+ does have the capability. If you are having trouble seeing the colors and jerseys, you may wish to try upgrading or changing your browser.
Team Jerseys: In addition to being able to choose colors for your team, there are a number of jersey styles which you may also choose.
